How to Apply

Applications for entry to the Sustainable Approaches to Biomedical Science Centre for Doctoral Training (SABS CDT) for entry in autumn 2024 are now open!

All candidates who wish to be considered for funding will need to apply directly to the SABS CDT via the University of Oxford admissions portal https://www.ox.ac.uk/admissions/graduate/courses/sustainable-approaches-biomedical-science

The CDT provides fully-funded 4-year studentships to highly ranked home applicants and will also consider for entry students who have full or partial funding through other sources. The majority of applicants to the CDT are not admitted to undertake a specific project with a specific supervisor, and undertake exploratory projects with two different supervisors before selecting their substantive DPhil project.

All students participate in the CDT training programme, which includes taught modules during the first term of study and an ongoing professional development programme throughout the 4 years of their doctorate. All students are required to undertake a 12-week professional internship or placement in a non-academic setting during their studies.

Candidates are strongly advised to prepare well in advance of this deadline, in case they encounter any issues with documents, referees, etc., that might delay submission their application. This is particularly important for earlier applications (before the March deadline) as there are several funded studentships that will have been allocated and scholarship nominations made.

We welcome applications from students from a wide range of academic backgrounds, including:

  • Biochemistry
  • Biology
  • Chemistry
  • Computer Science
  • Engineering
  • Mathematics
  • Pharmacology
  • Physics
  • Statistics
